Gombe Emir’s Cup: Coordinators Appointed for 15 Chiefdoms

The Gombe Emir’s Cup organising committee has appointed coordinators for 15 emirate chiefdoms across Gombe State in preparation for an upcoming football competition. The inauguration took place at the Medical Health Workers Union Secretariat in Gombe Metropolitan, led by Hon.

Ahm Shuaibu Gara, the chairman of the royal organising committee, alongside vice chairman Alhaji Auwal Umar. The competition aims to promote peace, discover football talent at the grassroots level, and strengthen unity among traditional institutions in Gombe State.

The appointed coordinators represent various emirate chiefdoms, including Umar Garba for Kenya, Emir Aliyu Lamid Funakay, Emir Muhammad Musa Baba Akko, and others. The selection process was transparent, involving a ballot system.

The committee has urged coordinators to work closely with football teams within their jurisdictions and adhere to the competition's rules and regulations. The tournament will feature four centers for preliminary rounds, including Bajoga, Deba, Gombe Metropolitan, and Kaltungo, with plans to train referees using video assistant referee systems.
