Gboko and Father O’Connell Win MILO Basketball Titles

At the 26th MILO Central Conference Basketball Championship, Government Secondary School Gboko from Benue State emerged as the champion in the girls' category, defeating Nigeria Defence Academy Staff Secondary School from Kaduna State with a score of 63-31. Father O’Connell Science College from Niger State won the boys' category, achieving a narrow victory over Government Secondary School Gwarinpa from Abuja with a score of 56-53.

The championship, which saw participation from 13,000 schools across Nigeria, aims to inspire youth development through basketball, emphasizing discipline, teamwork, and resilience. Mr.

Funmilola Oyewole, representing MILO, and Mr. Gilbert Tweneboah Koduah, addressed the importance of the championship in motivating young athletes.

Victoria Ada from Government Secondary School Gboko was named the valuable player in the girls' category, contributing 25 points, while Idri Moham from Father O’Connell Science College was recognized in the boys' category for his 20-point performance. The winners will advance to the national finals scheduled for July 2, 2026, in Lagos.
