Fayose Accuses Makinde of Betraying Tinubu Promise

Former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose alleged that Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde assured him he would not work against President Bola Tinubu, citing their shared Yoruba heritage. Fayose made these claims during an appearance on TVC’s Politics Tonight, where he discussed the crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the G-5 governors' impact on the 2023 presidential elections.

He accused Makinde of significantly contributing to the PDP's internal issues and claimed that political ambitions among the G-5 members complicated the party's situation. Fayose recounted a conversation with Makinde regarding a campaign flyer promoting him for the presidency, where Makinde stated he would announce any presidential intentions himself and would not be used against another Yoruba man.

Additionally, Fayose alleged that Makinde took control of the PDP structure in Ekiti State from him, leading to his withdrawal from party affairs. He also shared his experiences in Osogbo during the August 15 Osun State governorship election, emphasizing his interactions with voters.
