Mutfwang Advocates Sustainable Mining and Agriculture

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State called for responsible and sustainable mining practices while receiving the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, alongside a delegation of Chinese business executives. Mutfwang emphasized the importance of prioritizing local value addition, environmental protection, and community empowerment.

He urged for stronger collaboration with the Chinese Embassy to address illegal mining activities and safeguard host communities. The governor noted that agriculture remains a cornerstone of the state’s economy and proposed a partnership with the Chinese government to modernize agriculture, transforming subsistence farming into a commercially driven sector.

He announced plans for a 500-hectare special agro-processing zone near Yakubu Gowon International Cargo Airport to enhance agricultural exports. Ambassador Yu Dunhai reaffirmed China's commitment to strengthening cooperation with Plateau State, highlighting the state's strategic economic potential due to its abundant natural resources and favorable climate for agriculture.
