Cross River Power Commissioner Prince Williams Passes Away

On September 12, 2026, Prince Eka Williams, the Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy in Cross River State, died in a hospital in Abuja. His passing has been described by Governor Senator Bassey Edet Otu as an “irreparable loss” and a “dark shadow of grief” over the state.

The Governor noted that Williams had attended the Ikom New Yam Festival just a week prior, hosting the Governor at his home, which made his sudden death particularly poignant. Otu praised Williams for his “uncommon loyalty, courage and fidelity” in public service, recalling his roles as Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State and as a member of the State Executive Council.

The Governor highlighted Williams’ leadership of the Forum of Commissioners for Power and Energy in Nigeria and his dedication to the development of the power sector. Otu extended condolences to Williams’ family, the Akparabong community, and all who mourn his loss, praying for comfort and eternal peace for the deceased.
