PDP Urges Governors to Control Security Agencies Amid Kidnappings

The interim chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Turaki, called for governors to take full control of security agencies during a condolence visit to Governor Seyi Makinde in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Monday. This appeal comes in light of recent kidnappings in the Oriir Local Government Area, where seven students and 18 pupils, along with seven teachers, were abducted.

Turaki described the current security structure as contradictory and urged the federal government to implement urgent reforms. He emphasized that the lack of direct control over security agencies by state governors leads to delays in decision-making, which can exacerbate security issues.

Turaki acknowledged Governor Makinde's efforts to ensure safety and protect lives and property in Oyo State, despite the challenges faced. He reassured residents that difficult times would pass and urged them to remain vigilant and support security agencies.
