Reps Minority Caucus Accuses Govt of Neglecting Citizens

The Minority Caucus of the House of Representatives, led by Hon. Fred Agbedi, accused the federal government of pushing Nigeria to the brink by prioritizing the 2027 elections over the welfare of its citizens.

During a press conference at the National Assembly complex in Abuja, Agbedi highlighted the deepening insecurity, economic hardship, and political uncertainty facing the country. He referenced the murder of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar and the kidnapping of citizens in Katsina State as grave indictments of the government's failure to ensure security.

The caucus expressed concern over the widespread insecurity, noting that traditional rulers and ordinary citizens have become targets for bandits. They criticized the government's focus on political interests, particularly regarding the 2027 elections, while neglecting pressing issues like mass abductions and economic collapse.

The caucus called for an immediate overhaul of the nation's security architecture and urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to suspend political activities for six months to focus on national recovery.
