Ogun Commuters Frustrated by Persistent Gridlock Issues

Commuters along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway are experiencing severe gridlock due to the Ogun State Government's failure to relocate the Kara cattle market, despite previous assurances. On Monday, traffic congestion was particularly bad, with motorists spending hours in traffic, which has led to increased transport fares from N700-N800 to N1,500-N2,000.

Livestock traders are occupying lanes along the expressway, further exacerbating the situation. Commuters like Kunle Alabi and Shola have expressed their displeasure, citing the psychological stress caused by the gridlock and the government's lack of action.

Ogun State Commissioner for Environment, Ola Oresanya, stated that the government has not abandoned plans to relocate the market and is working with traffic management agencies to control the situation. However, the ongoing issues highlight the government's inability to address the recurring traffic problems, especially during festive seasons.
