Kwara APC Faces Internal Crisis Ahead of 2027 Elections

Orisun Igbomina, a prominent socio-cultural political advocacy group in Kwara State, has expressed concern over the deepening internal crisis within the state chapter of the APC. The group warned that continued divisions could jeopardize the party's chances in the 2027 general elections.

They noted the emergence of the G15 Coalition, which reflects growing discontent within the ruling party. Gbenga Awoyal, the national president of Orisun Igbomina, described the G15 Coalition as a significant political force that should not be ignored.

The coalition comprises ten leading APC governorship aspirants and three serving senators, among others. Awoyal emphasized the need for the APC leadership to address these crises to avoid losing support to the opposition, particularly the People's Democratic Party.

He urged Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to convene an inclusive meeting with the G15 leadership to restore trust and ensure that the 2027 primaries are transparent and free. Awoyal also called for President Bola Tinubu's intervention to broker peace within the party.
