Group Hails Shanono/Bagwai Bye-Election, Says Poll Good Democratic Example

The recent bye-election in Shanono/Bagwai State Constituency has been praised by THEWILL coalition election observer group as a good example of democracy. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was commended for conducting a credible and peaceful election on August 16, 2025.

Led by Maxwell Peters, the coalition observed the process to be transparent, devoid of violence, intimidation, or thuggery. The group deployed teams across polling units, collation centers, and strategic locations to monitor the entire electoral process.

INEC demonstrated professionalism by ensuring timely arrival of electoral materials, adherence to guidelines, and a peaceful voting process. Security agencies maintained neutrality and fairness, providing a secure environment for voters.

The coalition urged the winning party to be magnanimous in victory and called on the loser to accept the results in good faith for inclusive governance.
