Tinubu Approves Salary Hike for Nigerian Armed Forces

The Society Security Initiative (SSI), a non-partisan advocacy group, praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving salary increases for personnel of the Nigerian Armed Forces, ranging from 30 to 80 percent. This decision is seen as a demonstration of the federal government’s appreciation for the sacrifices made by military members in defending the nation and protecting citizens from security threats.

SSI's President, Abdulsalam Mohammed, stated that the salary increment serves as a significant morale booster, enhancing troop commitment and effectiveness in the fight against insecurity. The group emphasized that improved welfare is crucial for maintaining a motivated military capable of addressing security challenges.

SSI also commended President Tinubu for his support of the Armed Forces through increased defense investments and praised Minister of Defence General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd.) and Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyede for their leadership in military operations. The organization expressed confidence that the salary increase would motivate troops to continue their operations against criminal elements and contribute to restoring peace in affected regions.
