Kalu Applauds Military Salary Increase by President Tinubu

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a significant salary increase for members of the Nigerian Armed Forces, which ranges from 30 to 80 percent. This salary review is set to take effect on September 1 and is expected to benefit approximately 250,000 personnel across the Nigerian Army, Navy, and Air Force.

The federal government's annual military wage bill will rise by an estimated ₦264 billion due to this adjustment. Kalu expressed that this decision reflects a commitment to the welfare of troops who are essential in defending Nigeria's territorial integrity and confronting various security challenges, including terrorism and banditry.

He emphasized that improving military personnel welfare is a moral obligation and a strategic investment in national security. Kalu encouraged military and security agencies to continue serving the public with professionalism, courage, and respect for human dignity.
