Investigation Urged into Physiotherapist's Mysterious Death

Chikwado Chukwu, a visual impairment and human rights activist, has urged for a comprehensive investigation into the death of physiotherapist Mari Habila, who worked at the Federal University of Health Sciences in Uburu, Ebonyi State. Habila was found dead at the residence of Ebonyi State Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, on June 27, 2023, after being reported missing on June 26.

A statement from Umahi's senior special assistant confirmed her death, but the cause remains undetermined as Habila's family refused an autopsy. Chukwu questioned the circumstances of Habila's employment and the need for a physiotherapist at Umahi's village home.

The case gained public attention after a report by Sahara Reporters on July 10, 2023, and has raised concerns about the lack of response from both the Ebonyi State Police Command and the state government regarding the investigation into her death.
