Guinea-Bissau Partners with United Nigeria Airlines for National Carrier

The government of Guinea-Bissau signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with United Nigeria Airlines to launch its national carrier, Air Bissau. The agreement was signed in the capital, Bissau, by Dr.

Florentino Mend Pereira, the Minister of Transport, Telecommunications, and Digital Economy, on behalf of the Guinea-Bissau government, and Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, the Executive Chairman of United Nigeria Airlines.

This partnership aims to improve Guinea-Bissau's connectivity with the rest of the world. The MoU outlines a comprehensive cooperation framework to establish a fully operational national airline, with Osvaldo Vieira International Airport serving as the operational hub.

United Nigeria Airlines will provide financial investment, operational expertise, and training for Guinean nationals, including pilots and technical maintenance personnel. The agreement also includes provisions for infrastructure support at the airport and a commitment to ensure compliance with international safety standards.

The MoU is effective immediately and will remain valid for 18 months until a substantial joint venture agreement is concluded.
