Guinea-Bissau Partners with United Nigeria to Launch Airline

Guinea-Bissau's government, represented by Dr. Florentino Mend Pereira, the Minister of Transport, Telecommunications, and Digital Economy, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with United Nigeria Airlines, led by Prof.

Obiora Okonkwo, the Executive Chairman. This MoU aims to establish a fully operational national airline based at Osvaldo Vieira International Airport in Bissau.

The agreement outlines a framework for cooperation, including the creation of a joint venture entity to operate Guinea-Bissau's national airline. United Nigeria Airlines will provide operational expertise and has committed to assigning at least two aircraft to identified routes within 18 months of the agreement's commencement.

The airline will also offer executive jet services on a commercial basis. The government of Guinea-Bissau has agreed to facilitate the registration and licensing of the new national carrier, ensuring compliance with domestic laws and streamlining the authorization process.

The MoU is effective immediately and will remain valid for 18 months until a substantial joint venture agreement is concluded.
