Gunmen Abduct Osun LG Vice Chairman Debo Farounbi

On Tuesday night, around 10 PM, gunmen abducted Debo Farounbi, the vice chairman of Ifedayo Local Government Area in Osun State, along with three other individuals near Ora, close to the Osun-Kwara boundary. The attackers shot into the air, causing panic among residents.

Local military and volunteer forces attempted to resist the assailants, who abandoned three of the abducted individuals but took Farounbi into the bush. The Osun State Police Command's public relations officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed the incident and stated that efforts were underway to rescue Farounbi.

This abduction marks the third incident in the community within the last seven months. Previously, Emmanuel Owolabi, a retired customs officer, was abducted and held captive for almost four weeks before being released following an undisclosed ransom payment.

Community leaders expressed concerns over the recurring kidnappings and called for a stronger security presence to prevent further attacks.
