Gunmen Ambush Military Convoy in Ghana, Three Killed

On April 27, 2026, gunmen ambushed a military convoy in the Upper East Region of Ghana, specifically near Binduri, while it was escorting approximately 140 civilians from Bawku to Bolgatanga. The Ghana Armed Forces reported that the attackers opened fire on the convoy multiple times, leading to the death of three civilians and injuring one other person.

In response to the attack, military operations successfully repelled the assailants, resulting in the deaths of seven attackers during the pursuit. The military also recovered a Mosqu G3 automatic rifle, two filled magazines containing 20 rounds, and an additional 176 rounds of ammunition.

Furthermore, ten additional suspects were arrested and are currently in custody. The Ghana Armed Forces urged the public to cooperate with security personnel during operations to ensure safety.
