Gunmen Raid Oyo Immigration Office, Steal Firearms

On the night of June 2, 2026, gunmen attacked the Nigeria Immigration Service office located along the Ogbomoso-Ilorin Expressway in Oyo State, around 10:00 PM. The assailants, reportedly five in number, overpowered the officers on duty, stealing firearms, including a G3 rifle, and a mobile phone.

The Oyo State Police Command, led by Olayinka Ayanlad, commenced a thorough investigation following the incident. Preliminary reports indicated that the attack occurred while commercial activities were ongoing nearby, specifically near the Ayanyan cattle market.

The police received a distress call at approximately 8:45 PM, prompting immediate reinforcement and the deployment of a surveillance team to the scene. Officers were injured during the attack but are currently in stable condition.

The police are intensifying operations in the area to apprehend the perpetrators and recover the stolen items, collaborating with the Nigeria Immigration Service to ensure a swift resolution.
