Gunmen Kidnap Businessman, Injure 10-Year-Old in Oyo

On May 11, 2026, in Irawo, Oyo State, gunmen kidnapped businessman Alhaji Wasiu Aleshino. The incident occurred when three unidentified armed men allegedly trailed Aleshino from the Kraal market to a filling station in the area.

During the abduction, a 10-year-old boy sustained gunshot injuries and was immediately rushed to the hospital for medical attention. The Oyo State Police Command, represented by Public Relations Officer DSP Olayinka Ayanladi, confirmed the case of abduction and stated that preliminary investigations revealed the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police detectives visited the scene and recovered three spent shell casings, which are currently undergoing ballistic examination. Additionally, three face caps were recovered for forensic investigation.

The police are conducting intelligence-driven efforts to rescue the victim unharmed and apprehend the perpetrators.
