Gunmen Attack Kogi Communities, Seven Residents Killed

On a recent morning in Kogi, a herder, suspected of being a cattle rustler, was shot and killed during a confrontation with local vigilantes at a checkpoint. Following this incident, armed hoodlums invaded the town, resulting in sporadic gunfire and multiple casualties.

As of the previous night, seven residents were confirmed dead, with fears that the death toll may increase as families return from hiding. Among the victims was Prince Aliyu Isah Kabir, the APC Youth Leader of Kupa South Ward.

Comrade Abdullahi Adamu, the Lokoja Local Government Chairman, confirmed the attack and urged security agencies to take action against those responsible. The Kogi State Government condemned the attack as tragic and vowed to investigate the circumstances, emphasizing that anyone involved would face legal consequences.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo expressed condolences to the victims' families and directed security forces to restore calm in the area.
