Suspected Herdsmen Kill 25 in Plateau State Attack

On a late Sunday night, a violent attack by suspected herdsmen in Kawel village, Musher District, Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State, resulted in the deaths of at least 25 individuals. The assault began around midnight, with the attackers storming the community while residents were asleep.

Samuel Amalau, the chairman of Bokkos Local Government Area, confirmed the casualty figures during a telephone interview. Initially, youth leader Christoph Luka reported that 30 people had been killed, but Amalau clarified that the official count stood at 25.

The attack also involved the invasion of a primary health care center, where four people were killed. Local security personnel were alerted shortly after midnight, and the community members recounted the horror of the incident.

The attack follows a recent ambush that killed the district head of Gwand Saf, Samuel Alaket. Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army's 17 Brigade neutralized two suspected terrorists in Katsina State during a separate operation, recovering arms and ammunition.
