Kogi Police Restore Calm After Five Killed in Violence

The Kogi State Police Command announced that it has restored calm in Abugi and surrounding communities following reprisal killings that resulted in the deaths of five individuals. The violence was triggered by the killing of a herder in the community on Thursday.

Afusat Salisu, the command’s spokesperson, stated that the police, in collaboration with local security and community stakeholders, engaged traditional rulers and community leaders to promote reconciliation and address the conflict's root causes. A full-scale investigation is underway through the State Criminal Investigation Department to identify and apprehend those involved in the killings.

Naziru Kankarofi, the Commissioner of Police, emphasized the command's commitment to protecting residents and urged the public to report any suspicious activities. While normalcy has been restored, the investigation continues to ensure justice for the victims.
