Gunmen Kill Edo Chief and Abduct Daughters in Attack

On Monday night, gunmen attacked Chief Jimah Jacob Ogboi, a high-ranking palace chief of Idauh Kingdom in Esan West Local Government Area, Edo State, resulting in his death and the abduction of his two daughters. The assailants stormed his residence, shooting him at close range and injuring his wife with a machete.

His son, Lucky Ogboi, was reportedly away purchasing items during the attack and received a call about his father's shooting upon returning home, where he found his mother in critical condition. The incident has led to an emergency meeting among community elders to discuss possible steps for the security and release of the abducted daughters, as well as addressing the underlying causes of the attack.

HRH Alhaji Amedu Momoh has appealed to the Edo State government and security agencies for urgent intervention to strengthen security in the area. The Edo State Police Command, represented by CSP Eno Ikoedem, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation has commenced.
