Gunmen Kill Former Chief Security Officer in Bori

On Sunday evening, Mr. Letam Kine, a former Chief Security Officer of Bori in the Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, was shot and killed by gunmen along Polytechnic Road.

Residents suspect the assailants were cultists, as they opened fire before fleeing into nearby bushes. Eyewitnesses reported that the gunfire caused panic, prompting residents and passers-by to flee for safety.

Following the incident, social and business activities in the area were disrupted, with shop owners closing their businesses. Dr.

Thomas Bariere, the Chairman of Khana Local Government Area, condemned the killing, describing it as a senseless act of violence. He expressed concern that this incident occurred shortly after a similar killing in a nearby community, indicating the presence of armed criminal gangs undermining local peace and security.

Dr. Bariere called on security agencies to intensify operations and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
