Gunmen Kill Former Councillor in Plateau State Attack

On Sunday night, Daniel Danjuma Chong, a former councillor of Rim Ward in the Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, was killed by gunmen in Torok Village around 11:45 PM. The attack led to widespread panic as residents fled amid heavy gunfire.

Cynitha Dung, a community member, confirmed the incident, stating that by the time residents emerged, Chong had already been shot. Another resident, David Danjuma, sustained gunshot injuries and is currently receiving treatment.

The Berom Youth Moulders Association condemned the killing, describing it as a disturbing assault on innocent residents. In a statement signed by National Publicity Secretary Rwang Tengwong, the association expressed condolences to Chong's family and the Torok community.

They called for an immediate manhunt for the attackers and urged the Plateau State Government to enhance security in vulnerable areas. The group also advocated for the dismantling of criminal hideouts and a ban on open grazing, citing its exploitation by criminals.
