Gunmen Kill Former Plateau Councillor Hon. Star

On August 2, 2026, at approximately 10:45 PM, Hon. Daniel Danjuma Chong, also known as Hon.

Star, was killed by gunmen who invaded the Rim Community in Riyom Local Government Area. Rwang Tengwong, spokesperson for the Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM), confirmed the incident, stating that the attackers came from Kess, known as Bangai-Fulani, and fired sporadically during the invasion.

The attack also resulted in Mr. David Dachollom Danjuma sustaining a fatal gunshot injury.

The BYM, under the leadership of its National President, Barr. Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the former councillor and condemned the violence.

They urged security agencies and the Plateau State Government to apprehend those responsible for the attack and ensure justice for the victims. As of the time of reporting, the spokesperson for the Plateau State Police Command, DSP Alabo Alfred, had not responded to inquiries regarding the incident.
