Mary Habila Buried Without Autopsy Amid Controversy

Mary Habila, a 26-year-old woman, was buried on Friday, August 21, in Nok, Kaduna State, without an autopsy, months after her death at the Ebonyi State residence of Senator David Umahi, the Minister of Works. Sources indicated that no post-mortem examination was conducted, despite ongoing controversy regarding the circumstances surrounding her death.

The Southern Kaduna Peoples United Associations (SOKAPU) had filed a ₦20 billion fundamental rights enforcement suit seeking an independent investigation and forensic examination into the matter. However, SOKAPU President Samuel Tabara Kato stated that the organization had not received confirmation regarding whether an autopsy was performed.

Kato expressed uncertainty, noting that the police authorities had not communicated any information about the autopsy to the union.
