Amnesty International Condemns Kuje Chairman's Threats

Amnesty International issued a condemnation of Samuel Danjuma Shekwolo, the Chairman of Kuje Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), for his threatening remarks regarding voters. In a viral video, Shekwolo stated that anyone who does not join or vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) must leave the council.

He justified his stance by referencing the work of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and President Bola Tinubu. Amnesty International's statement, released on Tuesday, labeled Shekwolo's comments as a danger to society, asserting that they contradict the freedom of association and liberty guaranteed by the Nigerian constitution.

The organization called for the police to hold Shekwolo accountable, emphasizing that no one should be coerced into political alignment. They warned that his threats could incite violence and endanger lives, urging respect for individuals' rights to political choices.
