Igbo Leaders Reject Obi's One-Term Pact with Kwankwaso

The reported one-term agreement between Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential Candidate Peter Obi and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has faced significant backlash from influential Igbo leaders. They assert that the arrangement does not reflect the collective stance of the Igbo people, labeling it a personal political commitment by Obi.

Chief Chekwas Okorie, elder statesman and founding national chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), stated that Obi signed the agreement for himself and not on behalf of the Southeast. He emphasized that such political agreements are binding only on the individuals involved and do not prevent other Igbo politicians from pursuing presidential ambitions in the future.

Senator Chris Ngige also dismissed the notion that the agreement pertains to the Southeast, clarifying that it is an NDC matter. Both leaders highlighted that political arrangements are common but should not be misconstrued as regional mandates.
