Gbajabiamila Questioned by ICPC Over PFIPC Scandal

Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, was questioned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in Abuja concerning the ongoing investigation into the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) scandal. The ICPC confirmed that Gbajabiamila was not arrested but voluntarily appeared at their headquarters on Monday, July 20, 2026, to assist in the inquiry.

ICPC spokesperson Demola Bakar emphasized that Gbajabiamila's appearance should not be interpreted as an arrest. His lawyer, Jiti Oguny, stated that Gbajabiamila complied with President Tinubu's directive for a full investigation into the alleged fraudulent activities of the PFIPC, which reportedly operated without legal backing.

The investigation follows allegations made by Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claimed to have paid a bribe of 400 million naira to facilitate the establishment of the PFIPC. Adeyemi is currently facing trial on multiple charges, including forgery and impersonation.
