Heavy Rainfall Causes Destruction in Plateau State

On Saturday afternoon, heavy rainfall in Plateau triggered massive flooding that devastated houses and farmlands, particularly affecting the Riyom area. Mr.

Damba Dang confirmed the incident, describing the rainfall as one of the heaviest in recent times. The downpour overwhelmed the community's inadequate drainage system, causing mud and thatch houses to collapse under the weight of the water.

Residents lost food items, clothing, and household goods, creating a terrible sight for eyewitnesses. The flooding severely impacted homes and nearby farmlands, worsening the plight of agrarian communities that were already grappling with economic hardship.

In response to the disaster, residents are appealing to the Plateau State government and relevant agencies, as well as humanitarian organizations, for urgent provision of relief materials to assist those affected.
