Benue Monarch Urges SWAN to Boost Grassroots Sports Advocacy

The paramount ruler of the Idoma nation, Vice Chairman of the Benue State Traditional Council, Royal Majesty Agaba Idu Elaigwu Odogbo Obagaji Och Idoma, has called on the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) to enhance grassroots sports development and advocate for youth mentorship and ethical journalism. During a visit by SWAN's national executive committee to the palace in Otukpo, Benue State, the monarch was appointed as the nation's patron by SWAN.

He stressed the importance of synergy between traditional institutions and sports journalists to mobilize communities for peace through sports. SWAN's President, Isaiah Benjamin, expressed gratitude for the monarch's support and highlighted SWAN's commitment to using sports journalism as a tool for positive social change.
