Herdsmen attack Catholic Parish in Katsina-Ala

Armed Fulani herdsmen attacked the Paul Parish Agu Centre in Katsina-Ala, Benue State, prompting the community to call for urgent action from security agencies. The Nigerian Catholic Diocesan Priests Association strongly condemned the assault, labeling it a genocidal attack on the Church community.

The armed group reportedly shut down the parish, destroying the church, burning the rectory, and vandalizing the parish secretariat. The attack, part of a series of sustained assaults, forced the parish priest to relocate and led to the desertion of the entire Agu Centre community.

The association described the violence as a premeditated effort to cleanse the area and dominate the territory. The community is now in fear, with residents no longer feeling safe due to the ongoing conflict.
