Nigeria Launches "Hire from Nigeria" Job Initiative

The Federal Government of Nigeria has launched the "Hire from Nigeria" initiative, designed to connect Nigerian professionals, skilled workers, digital experts, and service providers with international employers and clients. This initiative aims to secure global jobs and service contracts for Nigerians, with a target of generating one million export-oriented jobs by 2030.

The initiative will be executed by the Federal Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. These ministries will work alongside the National Talent Export Programme (NATEP), universities, development partners, and private sector stakeholders.

During the launch, Minister of Education Dr. Tunji Alausa emphasized the potential of Nigeria's youthful population, over 70% of whom are under 30, to become a competitive global talent pool if properly equipped through quality education and practical skills. The government is also addressing financial barriers to education through the National Education Loans Fund (NELFUND), which ensures that students do not drop out due to inability to pay fees.
