Shettima Advocates for Nigeria as Global Outsourcing Hub

Vice President Kashim Shettima has positioned Nigeria as a potential global outsourcing hub, encouraging international businesses to engage with the country's young, digitally skilled workforce. Speaking at the Hire From Nigeria campaign launch in New York during the 81st United Nations General Assembly, Shettima highlighted the government's goal of creating one million export-linked jobs by 2030, a significant increase from the current 20,000 Nigerians employed in outsourcing.

The initiative, which is both private sector-led and government-supported, aims to facilitate connections between Nigerian professionals and international markets. Shettima noted the global outsourced services market is projected to exceed $1 trillion, with Africa's current share being minimal.

The campaign was initially launched in Abuja on August 31, 2026, and aligns with President Bola Tinubu's priorities of youth development, job creation, services, and digital trade. Ministers Dr Jumoke Oduwole and Dr Tunji Alausa also emphasized the importance of seizing this outsourcing opportunity.
