Nigeria Hotel Association Warns Against Lodging Criminals

The Nigeria Hotel Association (NHA), under the leadership of President Patrick Anyanwu, issued a warning to its members against the lodging of criminals, specifically targeting those involved in internet fraud, during a meeting held on Thursday in Owerri, Imo State. Anyanwu emphasized that hotels found harboring criminals, including "Yahoo Yahoo" boys, would face severe consequences, urging compliance with regulatory guidelines to maintain industry standards.

He noted that adherence to these standards is crucial for protecting the tourism and hospitality sector, which is a significant driver of economic growth in Nigeria and a major employer. Anyanwu also highlighted the importance of registering hotels with the association, warning that unregistered establishments could face sanctions, including potential closure.

He called for government support to strengthen the hospitality sector, which plays a vital role in job creation and revenue generation, while also urging against harassment of association members by regulatory agencies.
