Aisha Yesufu Condemns Blockade of Peter Obi's Convoy

Aisha Yesufu, a human rights activist and member of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), condemned the blockade of Peter Obi's convoy while he attempted to enter the Yelwata Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Benue. During this visit, Obi aimed to express solidarity with residents who had suffered losses.

Yesufu clarified that Obi's visit was not a campaign but a gesture of sympathy. In a statement on 𝕏, she criticized the actions of those who obstruct political candidates, asserting that no individual or group should dictate where candidates can campaign in Nigeria.

She referenced the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which has officially declared the commencement of the campaign period, questioning how anyone could prevent candidates from fulfilling their political duties.
