Effiong Questions Tinubu's Intent to Prosecute El-Rufai

Inibehe Effiong, a human rights lawyer, voiced doubts about President Bola Tinubu's intentions to prosecute former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai concerning allegations of phone tapping. During an interview on Channel Television, Effiong questioned how the federal government could file charges against El-Rufai without first interrogating him.

This skepticism follows widespread criticism of El-Rufai's actions, including calls from various quarters, including the presidency, for him to be investigated and prosecuted. Effiong's comments came after El-Rufai admitted in a Nation Television interview that phone conversations were being monitored.

Meanwhile, activist Adeyanju, during an appearance on AIT, urged the Department of State Services (DSS) to prevent El-Rufai from leaving the country, indicating a potential legal challenge regarding the seizure of his international passport.
