Defence Minister Reveals Soldiers' Salary Increase to N100,000

On Monday, the Minister of Defence, Musa, recounted his role in increasing the salaries of Nigerian soldiers from N49,000 to N100,000 during his tenure as Chief of Defence Staff. This adjustment was initiated about two years ago as part of efforts to enhance the welfare of troops.

Musa stated that discussions are currently ongoing with President Bola Tinubu regarding a further salary increase for military personnel, emphasizing the President's understanding of the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces. Musa expressed confidence that an announcement regarding another pay raise would be forthcoming.

Additionally, he reaffirmed the Federal Government's commitment to supporting the families of military personnel through a training and financial empowerment programme aimed at helping widows and wives of service members acquire skills and build sustainable businesses, thereby improving their financial stability and allowing serving personnel to focus on their operational duties.
