Oloyede's Fight Against Exam Malpractices Celebrated

On Monday, Arc Sonny Echono, Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), commended Professor Emeritus Ish’ aq Oloyede for his successful campaign against exam malpractices while he served as Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). Speaking at a homecoming celebration and awards ceremony at the University of Ilorin, Echono shared his experiences of being recruited by Oloyede to tackle the rampant corruption in the examination system, which he initially underestimated.

He described the organized nature of the malpractice, likening it to a cartel, and detailed a significant operation conducted at Sheraton Hotel, where over 60 individuals were arrested. This operation aimed not only to penalize offenders but also to uncover the masterminds behind the malpractice.

Echono also highlighted Oloyede's compassionate leadership and his advocacy for inclusive education. In recognition of Oloyede's contributions, Professor Wahab Egbewole announced the establishment of a N250 million professorial chair named “Ish’ aq Oloyede Professorial Chair of Islamics.”.
