Nigerians Can Verify Academic Certificates Online

Nigerians can now apply for the authentication of Nigerian academic qualifications and the evaluation of foreign qualifications online through the Federal Ministry of Education’s ESSVerify portal. This service was fully digitized in April 2026, ending the need for physical verification.

Minister Alausa confirmed the completion of this digitization on Wednesday. The portal allows users to verify documents issued by the Ministry’s Education Sector Support and Services, apply for eligibility or proficiency letters, and request letters of no objection.

Users seeking to authenticate Nigerian certificates for further studies, employment, or migration can do so through the portal, while those with foreign qualifications can apply for evaluation for purposes such as employment or NYSC. The process involves creating an account, selecting the required service, providing personal and qualification details, making a payment, and uploading necessary documents.

Payments made through the portal are non-refundable.
