Sanwo-Olu Urges HR Professionals to Embrace Change

At the Special Human Resource Forum (SHRF) 2026 in Lagos, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu called on Human Resources (HR) professionals to take a proactive role in workforce development as technological disruption reshapes industries and economies. He emphasized that HR personnel must understand the skills required for the future of work.

Sanwo-Olu commended the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) for its impact on workforce development, noting that many Lagos State civil servants have benefited from its professional development programs. He expressed pride in the institute's growth and its alignment with the state's long-term strategy for human capital development.

Mallam Ahmed Ladan Gobir, President and Chairman of the Governing Council of CIPM, challenged HR professionals to lead in ensuring that Artificial Intelligence (AI) promotes inclusive growth. Global AI expert Erica Farmer stressed the need for organizations to center people in their AI strategies, highlighting that technology alone does not guarantee economic progress.
