Kwankwaso Condemns Attack on Peter Obi's Convoy in Benue

Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the former Governor of Kano State, condemned the attack on the convoy of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), which occurred on Tuesday in Benue State. Kwankwaso alleged that thugs were deliberately mobilized to prevent Obi from entering Makurdi, labeling the incident a dark day for democracy.

He emphasized the constitutional right to freedom of movement, particularly for Obi, a former governor and prominent opposition figure. Kwankwaso called on the Benue State Government to urgently identify and prosecute those responsible for the attack and to ensure the safety and free movement of Obi and his entourage.

Additionally, he urged President Bola Tinubu to caution state governors, especially those from his party, against actions that could undermine democracy. Kwankwaso also appealed to the international community to take note of the incident and encourage Nigerian authorities to uphold the rule of law and protect opposition leaders.
