Peter Obi Voices Safety Concerns Ahead of Elections

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), raised alarms about threats to his life during an appearance on Arise TV. He expressed uncertainty about his safety, stating, "I’m not sure whether I’ll still be alive at the end of this." Obi mentioned that he has been petitioned and investigated in various places and is relying on God for protection.

He appealed to politicians to foster a peaceful and democratic environment leading up to the elections, emphasizing that while governors have the right to support their preferred candidates, they should also allow others to campaign freely. Obi recalled his tenure as governor of Anambra State, where he permitted politicians from opposing parties to campaign, advocating for peace in the political landscape.
