Datti Baba-Ahmed Offers Support to Peter Obi in Benue

Datti Baba-Ahmed, the former vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party, stated that he could have provided assistance to Peter Obi during a recent incident in Benue State if Obi had reached out to him. Baba-Ahmed made these remarks while discussing his relationship with Obi on the Naija Unfiltered Podcast, asserting that political differences have not affected their personal rapport.

He referred to Obi as his “boss” and noted that he could easily contact him. The incident in question involved Obi's visit to Benue State for a condolence and humanitarian trip following the deadly Yelwata attack, where his convoy faced obstruction from alleged sponsored thugs.

Obi's media aide, Esther Umoh, reported that these thugs attempted to prevent Obi from accessing the affected community. Baba-Ahmed expressed regret that he was not contacted during the incident, stating, “He knows I could have helped out in Benue.” His comments followed controversy regarding his earlier statements about the 2027 presidential candidates.
