Obi Defends Capability to Change Nigeria Amid Criticism

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has responded to remarks made by his former running mate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, who stated that none of the politicians challenging President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, including Obi, can bring about the necessary change in Nigeria. During an interview with Ojinika Okpe on Arise TV, Obi referenced his tenure as governor of Anambra State, asserting that he successfully improved critical areas of development and could replicate that success at the national level.

He emphasized his commitment to restoring order and improving governance while reducing the excessive cost of running government. Baba-Ahmed, who served as Obi's running mate in the 2023 presidential election, made his comments on the Mic On Podcast, explicitly including Obi in his assertion that no candidates could effect change.

He also noted his political independence from Obi, despite having previously expressed sympathy for him during their political collaboration.
