Akume Urges Unity Among Benue Politicians Ahead of 2027

George Akume, a notable figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governor of Benue State, stated on Tuesday in Abuja that he harbors no resentment against any Benue politician. He made this declaration during a meeting with APC leaders from the three senatorial districts of Benue State, which included Emmanuel Jime, a former executive secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, and several prominent party leaders and former loyalists of Governor Hyacinth Alia.

Akume called for unity among political stakeholders to set aside differences ahead of the 2027 general elections. He emphasized the importance of supporting President Bola Tinubu's agenda, which aims to restore the political and economic fortunes of Benue State.

Akume assured the delegation that the federal government is committed to providing adequate financial resources to drive development in the state, asserting that the challenges faced by Benue are not the fault of the president.
