Ramsey Nouah Reflects on Losing AMVCA Best Actor Award
Nollywood actor Ramsey Nouah revealed during an appearance on the Curiosity Made Me Ask Podcast that he has never won an Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Award (AMVCA). He was nominated for Best Actor in 2016 for his role in the film "76," competing against notable actors Richard Mofe-Damijo and Olu Jacobs.
Nouah explained that the award was won by another actor who had a stronger social media presence at the time. He noted that the voting system in 2016 was primarily based on viewers' choices, contrasting it with the current system that incorporates both viewer votes and jury decisions.
Nouah stated, “I never won an AMVCA. I was nominated for best actor in 76 and I lost.
At the time, it was predominantly viewers choice award.” He emphasized that the actor who won had a significant advantage due to their social media following.
