Senator Hanga Denies Defection Plans to APC

Senator Rufai Sani Hanga, a member of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has publicly stated that he has no intentions of defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC), despite speculation following meetings with APC leaders, including President Tinubu. Speaking on a local radio program in Kano on Tuesday, Hanga affirmed his loyalty to the NDC, saying, “I still remain a member of NDC and I have not yet made any plans of Decamping out.” He expressed doubts about the NDC's ability to win the presidency, citing a lack of acceptance and strength against the ruling APC, although he believes the party will succeed in Kano.

Hanga also discussed his relationship with Kwankwaso, noting mutual respect. He recounted how he was approached regarding the NDC gubernatorial candidate, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, and his running mate, Mustapha Kwankwaso, indicating his willingness to support Mustapha's campaign despite being offered a demotion.
