APC Aspirant Ahm Saleh Claims Detention by DSS

Ahm Saleh, an aspirant for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the House of Representatives in the Mani Bindawa Federal Constituency, accused the Department of State Services (DSS) of detaining him to prevent his participation in the party's primary elections. Saleh addressed journalists on Saturday, alleging that the actions were directly ordered by Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.

He reported that he was held in DSS custody throughout the primary election, which concluded with Hajiya Jamila Abdu Mani receiving 24,989 votes while he garnered only 1,256 votes. Saleh described the detention as a "broad daylight robbery" of his mandate and accused the governor of using state resources to frustrate party members.

Maiwada Dammallam, an aide to Governor Radda, stated that the governor does not have the constitutional power to direct security agencies, including the DSS, to arrest individuals. Saleh's claims highlight significant tensions within the APC in Katsina State.
